Kristyn

Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant

Originally from Alberta, Kristyn recently made the move to Vancouver Island, bringing with her a wealth of experience in customer service, leadership, and a lifelong love of animals. From a young age, she was the one always bringing home lost or stray animals, and that compassion naturally grew into a dedicated career in veterinary care.

Kristyn has been working in veterinary medicine for over a year and a half. Her passion for animals is deeply rooted, shaped by a childhood spent surrounded by both pets and livestock. She’s cared for everything from house cats to farm animals and has hands-on experience assisting with animal births and livestock vaccinations. Having personally cared for pets with medical conditions, Kristyn brings a special level of empathy and understanding to her role - she knows how important communication and compassion are when supporting both animals and their people.

When she’s not at work, Kristyn enjoys the beach and spending time with her three cats and her energetic Brittany Spaniel. Whether she’s helping behind the scenes or welcoming clients at the front desk, Kristyn is dedicated to making every visit to the clinic a positive and supportive experience.

Emma

Veterinary Assistant

Emma is a compassionate and dedicated veterinary assistant. Born and raised on Vancouver Island, she developed a deep love for animals from a young age.

Her passion for animal care was sparked early, and it was this drive that led her to pursue a career in the field. After high school, Emma enrolled at Vancouver Island University (VIU), where she earned her Animal Care Aide certification in March 2025.

The program equipped her with essential skills in animal behavior, nutrition, wellness, handling, and basic care procedures, all of which have prepared her for a fulfilling career in animal care. Emma is eager to help and learn, and she loves spending time with the furry family members she cares for.

Outside of work, Emma's passion for animals extends to her personal life. At home, she shares her space with four beloved cats, each with their own unique personalities. Her commitment to animal welfare shines through in everything she does, both professionally and personally, making her a valued member of the Hammond Bay Animal Hospital team.

Anne-Marie

Veterinary Assistant

Anne-Marie is a passionate animal care professional with a diverse academic background. She graduated from the Animal Care Aide program at Vancouver Island University (VIU) in 2017, where she gained hands-on experience in animal care and wellbeing. Anne-Marie then pursued her love for learning, earning a bachelor’s degree in English and History from VIU in 2025. This combination of practical animal care knowledge and a strong academic foundation allows Anne-Marie to bring a unique perspective to the veterinary field. With a deep commitment to the health and happiness of animals, Anne-Marie provides compassionate care and support to both pets and their owners.

When she's not working, Anne-Marie enjoys spending time with her two cats, Hades and Mr. Darcy. Hades, with his fiery spirit, and Mr. Darcy, ever the gentleman, bring both chaos and charm to her home. Together, they ensure that Anne-Marie's life is filled with love, laughter, and the occasional feline mischief.

Danielle

Veterinary Receptionist

Dani is a compassionate and experienced Veterinary Assistant with a deep commitment to animal care. She graduated from Douglas College in 2012 and has built a well-rounded career working in both emergency and day clinic settings. With her vast experience in handling a variety of medical cases, Dani has developed a strong understanding of the complexities of animal health and is known for her calm demeanor and exceptional attention to detail, especially in high-stress situations.

One of Dani’s greatest passions is providing care for geriatric pets. She offers gentle, attentive support to senior animals, ensuring they live out their golden years with comfort and dignity. Dani understands the unique needs of older pets and works closely with families to create personalized care plans that cater to their pet’s health and happiness.

A defining moment in Dani’s journey into the veterinary world came from her beloved soul dog, Jenna. Jenna was the inspiration behind Dani’s decision to pursue a career in animal care. Their bond sparked Dani's deep desire to help other pets live healthy, fulfilling lives and to provide compassionate support to families during their pets' later years.

Outside of work, Dani enjoys spending time in nature, and volunteering at animal shelters to help other animals in need. Her love for animals is not just her job but a true calling, and she feels incredibly fortunate to work in a field where she can make a real difference every day.

Katherine is a passionate animal lover who is excited to turn her deep affection for animals into meaningful action. She gives 100% of her energy and dedication to her role here in Hammond Bay, where she’s fully invested in making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. Originally from Colombia, Katherine brings a diverse background and a global perspective to her work, helping her approach animal care with compassion and understanding.

Katherine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia, where she learned not only about human behavior but also developed a strong understanding of animal behavior—knowledge that she now applies every day in her interactions with animals. She’s gained invaluable hands-on experience through her work in a grooming salon, a community pet wellness clinic, and a wildlife rescue center, all of which have enhanced her skills and deepened her commitment to animal welfare.

Her goal is to become a veterinarian, and she’s taking every opportunity to build the experience and knowledge necessary to reach that dream. But no matter how much she’s juggling; Katherine never forgets the importance of offering every pet the care and attention they deserve.

From the tiniest kitten to the most rambunctious pup, Katherine always makes sure that every animal gets the cuddles and love they need. When Katherine’s around, you can be sure that every pet is in loving hands.
